Sweeping up from kilometres of golden beaches
are mountainous dunes. Ever shifted by wind and tide, they perform their
role as a natural barrier, protecting the coastal forests from the salt spray of
the sea. Some of the many surprises in the area, like ancient San Middens
and freshwater oases can be discovered whilst exploring these dunes.

The view from on top of these dunes and over the forest canopy below,
is breathtaking. The coastal dune forests, which occupy the area between
the dunes and the estuary, are without doubt, of the finest examples of these
ancient wonderlands anywhere in Africa. Take a guided walk, or follow a trail and
delight in the rare and valuable indigenous trees, some hundreds of years old.
Latest news:
Sean and his team have just finished a beautiful new maze of paths to allow
guests to get lost all on their own and to enjoy an intimate relationship
with the vast array of indigenous hardwoods.

In May 2004 a major French Film Company selected this very forest to film
"Homo sapiens", a documentary on the origins of man.
